Weekend Recap

4 May

I spent the weekend out in the country, the suburbs of Armonk, NY.  Doctors orders.  He prescribed some serious relaxation and I did my best to do that.  I slept between 10-12 hours each night (with no sleeping aids!) which is more sleep than I normally would get in 3 days,  so I’d say I’m on right path to recovery.  How was your weekend?

I did what any suburbanite would do on a beautiful Saturday, attended a craft show.  This show was at the historic Lyndhurst Castle in Tarrytown, NY.  A place I went to as a kid for Halloween, and other events.  Who knew it hosted a craft show?

{Strange crafts made out of old cans and creepy dolls.}

{ Amazing hammocks that I wish I could string up on my non-existent balcony.  One can dream… }

{ My most favorite weekend breakfast.  Sent this to my sister to make her jealous.  Success. Tastes even better when eaten outside.}

Besides all of this, I rested, read my book on the outdoor rocking chair on the deck, saw a movie, (The Double Hour.  Really interesting if you don’t mind subtitles.) cooked fun meals and spent quality time with my Dad.

Did I follow the doctor’s orders?  I sure hope so!

Frenchie Love

28 Apr

I was daydreaming about my future pet Frenchie today and stumbled upon this site, The French Bulldog Rescue Network.  As everyone who knows me knows, I am a huge advocate of rescuing animals over buying pets from pet stores and breeders.  Unless you have specific needs (allergies, medical reasons, etc.) that keep you from being able to have any animal in your home, I firmly believe you should try your hardest to rescue an animal in need.  There are far to many animals that are being put down in shelters that need loving homes. Who doesn’t want one of these??

{My two favorite combinations.  Frenchies and my beloved BlueprintCleanse.}

I love Frenchies because of their bubbly temperament, their adorable, stout little bodies, and their way of being a constant fireball of energy and source of entertainment.  I look forward to the day when I can have my own.  Right now is just not the best time, unfortunately.

In the the future I’d love one of my own, so in the meantime I’m just going to keep perusing this link for Frenchies in the NY/NJ area that I can rescue and love one day… and torture myself.

Who doesn’t love Funfetti?

25 Apr

I don’t think there’s a person alive who doesn’t like Funfetti Cake, so when I found this recipe on Tastespotting for Funfetti Cookie Sandwiches my boredom got the best of me and I made them.  They came out great!  Just another way to eat funfetti and an excuse to buy a container of icing.  🙂

Aren’t these sprinkles the cutest??

I couldn’t help myself.

Springtime may be here

25 Apr

I was able to take a short walk the other day (4 whole blocks to be exact) before I got winded and retreated back home, but I was thrilled to finally see that Spring has arrived!  Look  at these beautiful tulips.  Planted by the lovely Park Avenue garden elves that miraculously plant lush gardens every winter that bloom like they’re on serious ‘roids.  Doesn’t matter to me, I love them.

Pics of my week

Finished my second juice cleanse.  Loved it.  I miss the juices, although I really missed chewing food.  This cleanse is called the BluePrintCleanse and I’m happy to give a full review, if interested.

Missing Empire State Building.  Foggy and ominous.

My new favorite drink.

The progress of my windowsill garden.  Basil.  Cherry Tomatoes. Snap Peas. Chives.

Glitter, Glitter

My new love.

Sally Hansen Nail Effects. You can find them here.  I’m looking for the Leopard style called “Kitty, Kitty” but they’re sold out everywhere I look!
